Duty and Customs
Not sure if I am in the right area. However what duties and customs can I expect if I order online from an American tackle store. Any Canadian online stores would also be welcome info.
Thanks

Re: Duty and Customs
--duty should be 6%
--brockerage can be per item or by value depending on how it is sent.
--if via postal ground you pay canada post usually $8 plus 6% if inder $1000 in canadian value
--they are not supposed to charge 6% if item is made in USA but only if USA guys fill out the proper forms.
--If shipped ups or other can be as much as a min charge of $25 per package plus other duty.
--so if they ship you a reel in one box and rod in separate box you could pay $50 for brocker
--It is usually best to have them pay shipping and brockerage from their end as they will get a much better deal than if you try to get it shipped yourself.
--most larger stores will have a set amount that they will calculate in your bill.

Re: Duty and Customs
I have ordered bass stuffs from tacklewarehouse couple times. It's very easy. UPS will delivery your package to your door, and UPS staff will ask you to pay tax ( HST ) at your door. I actually ordered stuffs last friday. I got my my package at my door this afternoon!
BaasPro will collect HST when you order on their site. but the delivery is a bit slower...
