new to bass but old to fishing
I figured I'd throw in my first post ,
I've been hearing about the Pitt marshes for a couple of years from a marine biologist friend of mine who used to go into the Pitt with his rod to sample the fish ( dream job) and in his free time go there to play . the place is 1/2 hr from my door so I finally decided to do some hiking into there a couple of weeks ago for an adventure , what a laugh , me and my boy found ourselves into fish pretty quickly . I've managed to figure out how to get in there with the boat with the use of google earth and the distinct launch from the road by the gate .
I'm a north Ontario back woods boy who has lived almost every breath catching and stuffing myself on a never ending supply of pike and walleye . I've been in bc for 20 years and still love to fish but one thing is different I no longer eat the fish I catch , I'm not too fussy on trout or salmon mostly because of acquired taste and the fact nothing can touch walleye until now , bass is pretty close
Now this bass fishing thing is awesome and we've been out 8 or nine times in the past two weeks , they strike in a way that is second to none ,and when they don't want to come to the boat then their a load of fun , we've been doing a killing with mr twisters but my favorite has been the floating perch rapala that I bop thru the water , they're all over it and its almost heart stopping excitement at times how they fly out of the water at it , we've been keeping the odd one to throw into the pan when we get home and i must say they taste great , its nice to have a taste of fish again .
most of my trout gear consists of up to 6" rapala lure types that generally the cutties and rainbows that I go for inhale , so I've got a good stash of gear for the bass fishing .
anyhow its my new found glory ,
can't wait till the fishing weather sets in a we have some cloud cover

ya well even though I've caught up to or over 200 fish (mostly tiny and not kept ) within the past two weeks I'd imagine its still a fragile fishery so I'd like to think my kids (and myself) will continue to have the same fun when they grow up
its a whole type of fishing that's in its own realm , the way that they strike so hard and the brute strength in a small fish brings back the excitement I felt pulling in pike , its kinda like yelling holy@#$ get the net then once it comes to the surface saying forget it , another small one lol

I've got to get myself a scale , my general method of measurement is the gap between my hands which looses accuracy with a beer or as my excitement grows while talking fish talk ,
so far I haven't caught anything of any real size but pulled in a good few that would be a couple pounds , a couple of days of cloud cover and I'll be pulling out my heavy gear and track down the big boys .
chances are I'll be at it again sunday , looks like it will be prime weather
